We loved chatting with Teddy about upcoming releases for 2021, surfing in Brighton, and his style of music!
After getting a few groovy projects out on bandcamp, Teddy wants to release some music on Spotify in 2021! He's hoping to release an EP in April called Sofa Surfer. His lo-fi surf-rock tracks are highly influenced by 70s psychedelic and folk bands.
Teddy used to be a part of a couple of bands in Manchester but feels like he has a lot more control when working on music on his own. He stated he'd love to have a band to play shows with though when the pandemic is over and they can happen safely again. Teddy talked about how difficult it's been finding new inspiration without live shows at the moment but is looking forward to releasing new music still!
His wavy EP "the Loops" was released in 2020 and features vibey guitar solos and mellow tracks he's made while jamming. Teddy has a home studio set up in his bedroom and his writing process consists of recording and experimenting with a loop pedal for a while and then going back and adding lyrics to the songs.

Solid Air by John Myers is an all time favourite of Teddy's and he feels as though this record has had a really big impact on his writing.

Gomez's "Bring it On" has also been a really influencial record for Teddy's music. He stated that he loves the blend of electronic music and the classic band setup Gomez had.
Advice for new bands or musicians?
"Try and write as often as you can." It can be really easy to write songs and then not finish them because you don't like how they've turned out but "the more you write the better your music will get" and it's a big thing to do to try and finish your songs. He also said not to overthink it or be too self critical with the way you write.
Teddy moved to Brighton about a year and a half ago and loves seeing bands play at The Hope and Ruin, The Prince Albert and Patterns.

Lockdown
Going to the beach in Brighton, cooking and surfing has got him through the winter lockdown.
Teddy's DIY set up contributes to the atmospheric indie music he writes and he said he doesn't actually know that much about recording or mixing so he's really winging it and learning a lot by making music on his own at home!
